Soul Purpose

Classic & Contemporary Soul, New Orleans Funk, Swing, R&B and Jazz in the Hudson Valley and Beyond!

What Our Fans Say

Had a blast tonight, at Lydia's Cafe, Stone Ridge, NY. Band. Just stopped in by chance. The band's name was "Soul Purpose': Music: Pure Soul, exquisite, I was grooving before I even knew it, from the second I walked in, when an old friend grabbed me to dance. Someone who never usta dance. For me, it was like I entered an Alternate Reality of some higher vibration, lol. The place was packed with a mixed crowd & mixed age, everyone was smiling, I mean not just smiling. No one, I mean, no one was frowning! And laughing, 1/2 the people were just so enchanted by the music which was superb. My Soul had a Purpose tonight & that was to dance. I'm home now but I'm still dancing to their incredible music. Guys you can play anywhere and get anyone, everyone to dance & party. On a Vibe Scale: Needle pushing the end & bouncing. I give you a 10 +on a scale of 10 & the poor needle trying to break the stopper!!!

Hi Francis,

A big thank you to you and the entire band for a great night of music at the Gala.

Two compliments that I received over and again on the event were a thumbs up on the food and the music.

I was very encouraged when two people started dancing before the buffet table opened up, and then it was great to see so many people on the dance floor after the speeches were done.

It was great to have the entire band fill the space with music. I was glad to at least have a moment or two on the dance floor myself - just not long enough though.

Please give my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of the band. You were all terrific!

best,

I have some really nice experiences to share from this past weekend. Wandering around Uptown (Kingston) the other night I was near Uncle Willy’s. Friday and Saturday nights you can always hear some cool band covering The Moody Blues or playing original, often bluesy rock. This past weekend I was enticed in by the very soulful sounds, a brazen horn section and warm vocals. The crowd was a bit older on this night as the band, the Hudson Valley’s own Soul Purpose, got everyone in the dancing spirit. Sometimes it is so much cooler to see a band with no ego doing what they love in a small room, just reminding everyone it is a pleasure and gift to be alive and share some tunes and spirits among friends and friendly strangers. That kind of good vibes is sorely needed right now and I was thrilled to hear the group’s almost borderline salsa take on Motown, swing and classic R&B hits. If you ever get a chance to see Soul Purpose I highly recommend it.

My wife and I and the two other couples we were with really enjoyed your performance last night at Unison. What an incredible and diversified mix of music you all performed. Thanks for making our New Years Eve super special. Looking forward to seeing you perform again soon.

You guys were amazing!! I've never seen the dance crowd last that long. Perfect musical choices and amazing execution. I'm going to try to catch a show where I can just be an audience member. Thanks for adding so much to our event. We would definitely have you back.

“It was a wonderful party thanks to your great band. What a gift it was to dance to the music of such a fantastic band in our own backyard (even though we were on a hill!) Everyone had the greatest time! Please send thanks to all the members of the band... Look forward to seeing you at Unframed Gallery and elsewhere!”

“On a cool late summer evening people gathered for the final summer concert organized by the Pine Bush Area Arts Council. And a fine show it was as the band Soul Purpose dug into the truly classic pop soul music of the 60's and 70's... You have only to hear the first chords of Martha and the Vandella's 1964 hit, "Dancin' in the Street" and your own feet begin to move and your hips to sway. For quite some time the gazebo could have been any great dance club of the mid-sixties, shaking to hits from Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition." But then summer, and the night, came to a close.”

“There are few bands with the musical chops, the vocals and harmonies and the pure fun of Soul Purpose. Perfect for parties and clubs - AND the band that turns heads and draws dancers at outdoor events. Consumate pros to work with ... and a lot of fun on stage. Soul Purpose will get you moving. They're the best.”

— Don Kerr, Entertainment Director, New Paltz, NY

“I have never been to a party where everyone, (and I mean everyone!) was up and dancing!”

“Our only hope is that we can come up with another excuse/party/reason to hire your band again, so we can have another wonderful dance party!”
